A pregnant woman in Illinois stabs her lover to death shortly after the baby shower.

An expectant mother from Illinois is in jail after fatally stabbing her fiance shortly after their baby shower last week.

Keshia Golden, 29, was detained on October 22 after she stabbed Calvin Sidney, 33, in the left thigh, cutting his femoral artery, according to police.

The victim's uncle saw the couple's final quarrel over who should use the microwave to cook up leftovers from their baby shower.

The disagreement heated up before the uncle interfered and separated them, sending Sidney to his room.

Golden, who was eight months pregnant at the time, stormed into the man's bedroom and stabbed him before fleeing the residence.

Sidney was taken to the hospital, where he died, and Golden, who had no idea what she had done, returned to the apartment to find police waiting for her.

According to the couple's relatives, Golden had a protective order against Sidney for beating her and once refused to sue her after she violently slashed him in the neck, requiring hospitalization.

"Those two were simply poisonous," Golden's mother stated. "But they were in love."
