A 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook a community in Oregon Friday morning, according to the US Geological Survey.
Around 5:52 a.m., an earthquake was detected near Lacomb, Oregon, southeast of Salem.
The USGS provided a graph indicating that the quake occurred just below the threshold for mobile notifications to be sent.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, there are no early reports of severe damage or serious injuries.
According to the USGS, earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest states of Washington and Oregon are caused by slip-on faults in a range of geographical and geologic contexts.
It said that earthquakes in that region are caused by stresses caused by the Juan de Fuca Oceanic Plate's movement to the northeast with regard to the North America Continental Plate at a pace of several centimeters per year.
