During a violent argument on Saturday, an older Queens man is suspected of fatally shooting his younger brother.

During an altercation inside their shared flat in Laurelton, Jethro Jacobs, 73, alleged that victim George Jacobs, 66, grabbed a knife and threatened him first.

According to investigators, the elder brother then shot George once in the chest approximately 7:40 a.m. The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Neighbors described the deceased guy as "a kind person" who cared for his 95-year-old mother and helped others.

"When I came outside, the yard was mowed," one witness claimed of the victim. "I'd wonder, 'Who did my lawn?'" George was the one. He would not seek no appreciation or nothing at all. He'd simply do it."

Jethro Jacobs was detained on suspicion of murder and criminal possession of a firearm.

"The brother would come over and start arguing with him over nothing; I think the two just couldn't get along."
