Suspect surrenders in Mexico after kidnapping and murdering his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint in Texas.
After fleeing Texas for Mexico, a murder suspect apparently surrendered, prompting Pasadena police and federal authorities to start a massive manhunt for him.
Daniel Chacon, 30, is suspected of kidnapping Maria Gutierrez, 38, and putting her into her SUV, where he fatally shot her on Monday.
According to the suspect's uncle, Chacon came to his house and requested for clothing and a phone before phoning his current girlfriend to apologize for everything.
Chacon had informed his uncle the day before Gutierrez's murder, "I think I'm going to have to kill this girl."
Gutierrez was Chacon's ex-girlfriend, and they had a 5-month-old daughter together, who was safe in the care of Chacon's current girlfriend at the time of the event.
