According to a statement provided by Penn's manager, Eileen Ryan, a seasoned actress and matriarch of the Hollywood family that includes actor Sean Penn, died at her home on Sunday. She was 94 years old.

On October 16, Ryan would have turned 95. There were no information offered about her demise.

Ryan has starred in over 60 television episodes and films throughout the course of her career, including roles in genre films such as "Eight Legged Freaks" in 2002 and "Feast" in 2005. She also participated in the critically praised films "Magnolia" in 1999 and "I Am Sam" in 2001.

Her TV credits include "The Twilight Zone" in 1960, as well as "ER," "Ally McBeal," and "NYPD Blue" 35 years later.

According to the statement, Ryan met her late husband, late director Leo Penn, in 1957 in New York City during rehearsals for "The Iceman Cometh."

The couple moved in together within a week of meeting and married a few months later, according to the statement. Leo Penn died in 1998, after a 41-year marriage.

In addition to Sean Penn, the couple had son Michael Penn, singer of the late '80s smash single "No Myth," and late actor Chris Penn, who starred in films such as "Reservoir Dogs" and "True Romance."

Chris Penn, 40, passed away in January 2006.
