Paris Saint-Germain won 3-0 away at AC Ajaccio on Friday, taking a six-point lead at the top of Ligue 1. Despite the fact that Neymar and Sergio Ramos were both suspended for the potentially difficult journey to Corsica, Christophe Galtier's side easily defeated their hosts thanks to some fantastic goals.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice and set up Lionel Messi for the third as the famous Argentine returned the favor for the French sensation at Stade Francois Coty. The victory maintains PSG unblemished this season, and they are aiming for their first unbroken run since passing to Qatari ownership more than a decade ago.

The French champions scored after only 24 minutes, with Messi supplying Mbappe for a precise finish past Ajaccio goalkeeper Benjamin Leroy. There were no more goals until the last 11 minutes, but the France international wasted a fantastic chance to increase PSG's advantage when he fired over from close range.

Instead, it was a moment of pure brilliance from both Mbappe and Messi that saw Les Parisiens increase their lead in the South American. A fluid play that included numerous precise touches and brilliant passes culminated with Messi converting for his sixth Ligue 1 goal of the season and, perhaps, the best of the bunch from a collective standpoint.

Mbappe struck strongly from the outside of the box, but it was the pair's synergy on that remarkable second goal that truly shone out. With the absence of Neymar, who has been in better form since the start of the season, the Brazilian and Messi have frequently found it simpler to connect given their Barcelona background.

Mbappe had to wait for some of his talent to work in his advantage, but it finally did, and with devastating results. After this recent masterpiece, the former AS Monaco star has 10 Ligue 1 goals and two more assists, while Messi has six goals and nine assists and has transformed since last season.

"It was a balanced first half," observed Carlos Soler, Neymar's successor in the No. 10 role, following the game. "It was definitely lot simpler when we scored the second and third goals. The pitch and our opponents were anything but easy, as the crowd added to the atmosphere and empowered them. Messi, on the other hand, did what Messi does. Above all, it was a strong team performance. We are in terrific form to return to the Champions League."

In the end, an easy win over a team like Ajaccio means nothing when appraising PSG's prospects of glory on the UEFA Champions League's greatest stage. However, witnessing Mbappe and Messi connect up like that makes you wonder whether more is on the way from what is now a reliable Parisian team.

Maccabi Haifa has been cautioned ahead of a tough midweek trip to Parc des Princes on Tuesday, while PSG is eager to maintain their current run of draws. Neymar and Ramos will return from suspension for that encounter as the Ligue 1 giants try to clinch their place in the knockout round with one game to spare.
