An armed man went on a violent stabbing spree outside a Las Vegas casino early Thursday, killing two people and injuring at least six more.
Officers responded to the mayhem on South Las Vegas Boulevard near The Wynn Las Vegas and Resorts World Casino at 11:42 a.m.
Yoni Barrios, 32, was identified as the culprit, who attacked one of the victims in a "unprovoked attack" before attacking the others as he fled the scene.
Tourists and locals, including showgirls, were among those killed; the deceased were named as Brent Allan Hallett, 47, and Maris Mareen Digiovanni, 30. Both were inhabitants of Las Vegas.
"There was one showgirl on the ground," recalled a Canadian tourist. "Another showgirl was on top of her, attempting to assist her companion."
"She appeared to have been stabbed in the back, but she didn't notice since she was assisting the other showgirl."
