According to the organization, Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green apologized to teammates and coaching staff after punching teammate Jordan Poole in the face on Wednesday.

After Thursday's practice, Warriors general manager Bob Myers addressed the issue. "This morning, Draymond apologized to the team," Myers added. "Jordan was in the room, and I was in the room with the team, coaches, and players, and we heard it."

On Wednesday evening, news of Green's 32-year-old altercation began to circulate. "It's the National Basketball Association. It's all about professional sports. These things occur. Nobody enjoys it. We do not condone that, but it occurred "Myers stated.

TMZ received video of the brawl on Thursday. Green and Poole, both 23, are seen sizing each other up in practice before the veteran strikes his youthful teammate in the face, knocking him to the ground.

Jordan Poole has not yet responded to the event. Green's representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment from PEOPLE.

Myers informed reporters that any disciplinary action taken against Green would come from the company and would be handled internally. "As for any suspension, penalty, or fine, we'll handle it internally."

Myers also revealed details of his chat with Green following the event. "One of my favorite players is Draymond," Myers remarked. "I told him, but all I said was, 'You're better than this.' Don't do it. Do not subject yourself to this. Put yourself in this situation.' I still adore the individual. I don't agree with what he did, but I still like the person."

During a media availability, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also remarked on Green's actions, telling reporters: "Green did not practice today and will not be present tomorrow. I anticipate him to return on Saturday and resume his work "Kerr stated.

Kerr agreed with Myers' choice to handle the situation internally. "As coaches, we attempt to resolve things internally whenever something happens."

After the news surfaced, speculation about what prompted Green's rage began almost immediately on social media. One story that teammate Andre Iguodala promptly debunked was that the conflict between Green and Poole was caused by contract extensions.

"What we're not going to do is go nuts over my young fella JP," the Golden State veteran wrote. Poole is a "wonderful character kid," according to Iguodala, and anything purporting to be "direct from the source" is most likely fake.

Stephen Curry, a close friend of Green's, was also questioned about the confrontation following Thursday's practice. Curry, 34, denied claims that Poole was to fault for his teammates' fight.

"The exact post from yesterday insinuated that JP's attitude or something has changed since he's been in this training camp or whatever time period they're discussing. It's just nonsense "Curry stated.

Poole, Kerr acknowledged, has been a good addition to the team's roster thus far. "Jordan has been great all week," Kerr remarked.

"I was made aware last night of a claim that Jordan had an attitude in camp - nothing could be farther from the truth. He's been wonderful. It's disheartening to see misinformation floating around, but I wanted to make sure I cleared the air."
