When a detainee at the North Chicago Police Department was discovered dead in his cell early Saturday, he was missing a dialysis connection.

A preliminary inquiry found that the 34-year-old man bled to death after the gadget was withdrawn from his body.

According to police, the convict was apprehended on Friday for criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. Following his arrest, he was also caught in possession of a prohibited drug.

After being detained for many hours, the individual informed authorities that he was not feeling well and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was eventually released.

An officer checking on the detainee found him dead in his cell at 5:30 a.m. The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating his death independently.
