According to Dallas police, the shooter who fatally shot two maternity ward nurses at a hospital on Saturday was a paroled ex-con who was wearing an active ankle monitor at the time.
Nestor Hernandez, 30, was shot and wounded soon before noon when he opened fire inside Methodist Dallas Medical Center on North Beckley Avenue.
The deaths were eventually identified as two maternity ward nurses who worked near the facility's labor and delivery section.
The hospital stated, "The Methodist Health System Family is devastated by the death of two of our cherished staff members."
"This horrific catastrophe has devastated our whole company." During this difficult time, we want to reassure our patients and workers that Methodist Dallas Medical Center is safe and secure.
"Our hearts go out to our departed coworkers and their families, as well as our whole Methodist family."
Hernandez was sent to another hospital for treatment. He is now charged with capital murder.
