As a result, the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has classified most of the Washington, D.C., region as having a low chance of severe weather, which means gusty gusts, heavy rain, and lightning are possible.

A thunderstorm watch was also issued for the whole area until Sunday evening, although it was subsequently lifted.

The storms will pass by late Sunday evening, allowing for a lovely start to the week on Monday.

Temperatures will remain in the 70s throughout the week, and there will be lots of sunshine
