Lily James on Being Sewn Into Her Emmys Gown and Looking Like Pamela Anderson Justice (Exclusive)

Lily James had to be sewn into her custom Versace gown, the Pam & Tommy actress reveals ET. "I am sewn in at the back and it has a corset," she tells Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner on the red carpet at the 74th Academy Awards.

James adds, "They designed it for me. The people who made this dress are phenomenal... We had so many fittings to perfect it, and I am so happy." 

The actress, meanwhile, is one of 2022 Primetime Emmy nominees in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for her portrayal of Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy. The Hulu series, which has been nominated for a total of 10 awards, has already won one for "Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic)."

Reflecting on her portrayal, James says she wanted to bring justice to the part as well as the real-life tale involving Anderson and then-husband Tommy Lee Jones' stolen sex tape.

"It was an unbelievable combo of, like, a total challenge and privilege and so thrilling as an actress and also just scary because I was just so desperate to do her justice and capture something vital about her and not let all of the millions of people who adore her down," she laughs.

While this is her first nomination, James plans to "let the night unfold" before returning to Italy to film her upcoming movie. "I definitely shouldn't party too hard, but I'm just going to let it happen," she adds. "I've never done something like this before, not even at the Emmys." So I'm simply going to go with it."
