Backstage Information Regarding a Rumored Altercation Following AEW's All-Out Media Scrum
According to Bryan Alvarez on the current "Wrestling Observer Radio," a backstage brawl occurred last night following CM Punk's post-AEW all-out media blitz.
During his press conference, the new AEW World Champion did not hold back and spoke honestly about Colt Cabana, "Hangman" Adam Page, and the AEW Executive Vice Presidents. This supposedly caused a lot of backstage controversy when his time was up, and a physical confrontation reportedly occurred between Punk and The Young Bucks, although it's unclear who else was involved, with Dave Meltzer describing the scene as a "melee."
A security guard can be seen running from that location to a backstage area where the incident is said to have occurred during the media scrum. It is not clear at this time how violent the brawl was or how many people were engaged. It is also unknown how AEW President Tony Khan, who was not present at the moment but was present during the media scrum, would respond.
Punk stated that the EVPs "should have known better," but he did not specify if it was just one or the entire group - the new trio of champions Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. For months, there have been reports of problems between the former WWE Superstar and Page. They go back to an AEW World Championship feud, with both guys making on-screen statements on episodes of "AEW Dynamite" that seemed to irritate the other.
According to sources, the Elite were meant to take part in the media round, but they did not show up, and all three guys were "very furious" by what Punk said, threatening to leave the organization.
