Saskatchewan RCMP issued a dangerous person warning Sunday morning due to several reports of stabbings in the James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon.

In an update sent to cellphones across the province shortly after 10 a.m., RCMP said the alleged victims may have been randomly attacked.

The initial message, issued shortly before 8 a.m., said police were searching for two suspects after several stabbings occurred in the First Nation, which is about 40 kilometres northwest of Melfort.

An update released minutes later identified the suspects as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson.

Damien was described as five feet, seven inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. The alert issued by Melfort RCMP said Myles was just over six feet tall and weighed 200 pounds.

A third update issued around 8:20 a.m. says the suspects may be travelling in a black Nissan Rogue with Saskatchewan licence plate 119 MPI.

Starting around 6 a.m., STARS emergency services flew three separate missions in the James Smith Cree Nation Sunday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m., a fourth ambulance was dispatched to Melfort.

RCMP instructed area residents to get to safety immediately or stay put.

"Do not leave a safe place. Use caution when allowing others into your home," the RCMP alert said.

The alert also warned against approaching suspicious persons and picking up hitchhikers.

RCMP are asking area residents not to disclose locations to police.

The warning states that anyone in the area who sees a suspicious person or experiences an emergency should call 911.
