Judge is two home runs shy of tying Roger Maris' AL home run record of 61.

On Tuesday night, Aaron Judge became the sixth player in MLB history to smash 60 home runs in a single season.

Judge hit his 60th home run of the season in the ninth inning against Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Wil Crowe.

Judge is also the third Yankee in history to smash 60 home runs in a single season, after Roger Maris (61 in 1961) and Babe Ruth (60 in 1927). He is the first guy to reach the milestone since Barry Bonds (73) and Sammy Sosa (64) in 2001.

Judge's next two home runs will also be historic, tying and breaking Maris' American League record.

Bonds, Sosa, and Mark McGwire have since exceeded Maris, but their involvement with performance-enhancing drugs has tainted their reputations in the eyes of many baseball fans, who believe Judge's 62nd home run will be the actual all-time single-season record.

Although Judge has stated that "73 is the record," some believe that 62 might be worth up to $10 million.

Ticket fees to see and/or catch 61 and 62 have also soared, so Judge may remain humble all he wants, but 62 is historic anyway.

With his 59th home run of the season on Sunday, Judge broke the single-season record for most home runs hit by a right-handed batter.

Judge will be a free agent this year after turning down the Yankees' offer of $230.5 million over an eight-year period, and no gamble on oneself has ever paid off so brilliantly.

He not only leads baseball in home runs, but also in RBI (128), on-base percentage (.419), slugging percentage (.703), total bases (372), and runs scored (123). His.316 hitting average was.001 behind AL leader Luis Arraez of the Minnesota Twins as of Tuesday. He also leads the AL in walks with 93.

Judge still has 15 games left to set a new mark. He has been hitting just over a home run every other game since July 15.

When Judge hit the home run, the Yankees were trailing the Pirates 8-4. However, it ignited a massive comeback for the Yanks, who went on to defeat the Pirates 9-8 thanks to a walk-off Giancarlo Stanton grand slam.
