Police in Boston are also investigating a complaint of another suspicious package on Huntington Avenue, near the Museum of Fine Arts.

According to school authorities, one individual was sent to the hospital Tuesday evening after a box delivered to a building at Northeastern University exploded when it was opened.

The item was brought to Holmes Hall on Leon Street at 7 p.m., according to Northeastern University. and exploded when a member of staff opened it. That person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

Boston police, Boston fire, and Boston EMS have all arrived, and the building has been evacuated. An FBI official also stated that they are aiding the Boston Police Department in an investigation at Northeastern University.

Boston police are also investigating another suspicious package allegation on Huntington Avenue near the Museum of Fine Arts, while Cambridge police are investigating a report in the 1100-block of Cambridge Street. At this point, police have not established that one of these parcels represents a threat.

Jacob Isaacs stated that he was in class at the time the building, Holmes Hall, was evacuated.

"We were in class when we saw two policemen walk through the building, and then as soon as we look out the window, we see a fire truck with the lights on blazing, and then our teacher is like, 'I gotta see what's going on,' and he sees that the fire truck is going and there's a police car outside, and as that happened, instantly the fire alarm starts going off," he explained.

Isaacs went on to say that they didn't hear anything that sounded like an explosion until first responders arrived.

Evening classes at Behrakis, Shillman, Ryder, Kariotis, Dockser, and West F have all been canceled at Northeastern.

The scene is still busy, and residents are advised to avoid the area.
