A juvenile has been arrested in connection with the double murder of two teenagers, ages 14 and 18, along a North Carolina path.
A juvenile suspect was apprehended two days after the bullet-riddled bodies of a 14-year-old girl and her 18-year-old companion were discovered over the weekend on an Orange County path.
In connection with the deaths of Lyric Woods and Devin Clark, the 17-year-old was charged with two charges of first-degree murder.
Clark was a senior at Eastern Alamance High School, where he played football, while Woods was a freshman at Cedar Ridge High School.
Prior to her corpse being discovered in the woods on Saturday, the girl was seen getting into a car at 3 a.m. The next day, Clark was reported missing.
More than 15 gunshots were heard that night, according to a local homeowner.
We have identified a suspect in this case via the diligent work of my investigators and the support of employees from numerous other law enforcement agencies, said sheriff Charles Blackwood on Tuesday.
"We will cooperate with local, state, and federal law enforcement to locate and detain the culprit and bring him before the legal system."
