According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at 6:39 p.m. with a depth of 4.6 miles near the Sonoma County city of Santa Rosa in the North Bay. Geophysical Survey.

The epicenter was located around 1.8 miles south of Santa Rosa and 48 miles northwest of Berkeley. According to the USGS' ShakeMap, it was felt as far south as San Francisco and as far north as Clear Lake.
