Jenna Ortega features Wednesday Addams in the new Netflix series directed by Tim Burton, as she navigates life at an outcast boarding school.

The Addams Family is making a comeback on the big screen - and it's more creepier and spookier than before!

On Wednesday, Netflix published the official trailer for its upcoming Tim Burton-directed series.

The sitcom, which stars the renowned characters created by Charles Addams, follows the narrative of Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she navigates her life at Nevermore Academy.

According to the Netflix synopsis, Wednesday "attempts to manage her burgeoning psychic gift, halt a terrible killing spree that has scared the surrounding village, and solve the murder mystery that ensnared her parents 25 years ago" at the boarding school for misfits.

The new teaser trailer opens with Wednesday arriving at Nancy Reagan High School with her signature long braided pigtails. As she walks into the school hall, she is met with blank glances from other kids.

Later, a voice-over can be heard in the background stating, "Miss Addams, you definitely had a very fascinating educational trip." "Eight schools in five years," says another.

Wednesday then walks into the swimming pool area, where male students are practicing their strokes.

"Hey weirdo, this is a closed practice," one kid screams from the pool, mocking her. Other kids chuckle in response to his remarks.

Wednesday responds, "The only one who gets to punish my brother is me," before displaying two plastic bags full of piranhas in her hands and releasing them into the sea.

As the pupils attempt to swim out of the pool, one youngster in particular is seen crying in agony after being bitten by the ferocious fish. Wednesday grins as she observes the incident. "Being expelled was just a bonus," she replies quietly.

Wednesday's parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, subsequently accompany their daughter to her new school.

"You will fall in love with Nevermore," Gomez tells his daughter. "It's a wonderful location."

"Finally, you get to be with friends who understand you," Morticia adds as a throng of academy students greet Wednesday. "Perhaps you'll even make some pals."

As Wednesday begins her new chapter at school, one friendly student inquires, "Would you like to try your hand at being social?"

"I enjoy stabbing," Wednesday says.

Wednesday recounts "death, mayhem, and intrigue" in her voice-over as the tape progresses. "I believe I'll like being here," she says.

The characters of Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, butler Lurch, and Cousin Itt were first introduced in a New Yorker comic strip in the late 1930s.

Since then, there have been several onscreen adaptations, including an ABC sitcom from 1964 to 1966, two animated series in 1973 and 1992, another live-action show titled The New Addams Family in 1998, The Addams Family movie in 1991 and its 1993 sequel Addams Family Values, and two animated films in 2019 and 2021.

Along with Ortega, Zeta-Jones, and Guzmán, the cast of Wedneday includes Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Gwendoline Christie (Principal Larissa Weems), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barcla

Ortega joins the list of women who have played the legendary character throughout the years, including Christina Ricci, Lisa Loring, and Chlo Grace Moretz, with this new Netflix series of eight episodes.

Wednesday is set to arrive on Netflix later this year.
