Ukrainian special forces are responsible for the raid on a Crimean munitions storage facility.
An attack on a military base in Russian-occupied Crimea was carried out by Ukrainian special forces.
At roughly 4.15 a.m. BST, a fire broke out following numerous explosions at a temporary munitions storage facility in the Dzhankoi district of north Crimea, according to Russia's defense ministry (6.15am local time).
The strikes were carried out by Ukrainian special forces operating within the region taken by Russia in 2014.
It comes after Russia blamed the strike on Ukrainian "saboteurs."
"I believe what is apparent is that there is at least one - if not two - Ukrainian special forces cells acting alongside Ukraine sympathisers in Crimea to impede Russian operations," said Sky News journalist Alistair Bunkall in Odesa.
According to Russian official media, two persons were hurt as a consequence of the explosives to the north of the peninsula, and trains were also interrupted.
Approximately 3,000 people living nearby were evacuated, according to Sergei Aksyonov, Russia's senior official in Crimea.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine is calling on world leaders to drive Russian soldiers out of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, where he claims the Kremlin is committing nuclear terrorism.
