The Patriots and Panthers will face off in preseason after their troubled joint practices

The Patriots' preseason continues this Friday night when they play the Panthers at home.

The kick off time for the CW Providence game is 7 p.m. The two teams have practiced together recently and there have been fights breaking out. One happened on Wednesday and injured a fan. Several players were ejected from the game as a result.

The second-year quarterback Mac Jones and the first-team offense are expected to get some reps after sitting out the team’s first preseason game against the Giants.

The Patriots were having difficulty with their new offensive system, but they showed improvement during practice this week.Jones is starting to take on more leadership responsibilities on the team and is more involved in the offense. "I think we've laid the foundation for what we want to do and what coaches want to do," Jones said. "We've definitely accepted that.

Some things I've done in the past. There are things I like, we're trying to bring them together more, or things that Coach Belichick sees in the movie, he's like, "Hey, what do you think of this?" So it's very fluid, It is very important for them to be able to understand some of our ideas. "

"I think the really good offenses in the NFL, you can tell the play-callers and the quarterback are on the same page," he continued. "I think we're getting there and that's the progress we need, and I'm really happy with that."

The Patriots will finish their preseason next Friday away against the Las Vegas Raiders.
