Lovie Smith, the Texans' coach, said rookie G Kenyon Green "did some good things" against the 49ers.
Coach Lovie Smith was pleased with the events that took place in the preseason finale, which gave the Houston Texans the opportunity to see their other first-round pick against the San Francisco 49ers.
On August 25, during the 17-0 victory at NRG Stadium, rookie guard Kenyon Green worked with the second team, and Smith was impressed with what he saw from the Texas A&M product.
"I think he's done some good things," Smith told reporters Friday. "He missed a little bit of time, but he made some great plays. Kenyon Green is a good soccer player. The injuries have set him back a little bit, but when he's been out there practicing, we have seen those kinds of plays you are talking about."
Green had missed the first two preseason games because he was dealing with a concussion. Thursday night's games showed the rookie is ready to go.
"When you put him on, everybody noticed some of his blocks," Smith said. "He's right on schedule and making the progress we want him to make.
The Texans take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 11 at NRG Stadium. Justin McCray and A.J. Cann were the other guards on the first-team offensive line against the 49ers.
